Circulation/Mailing Labels. Suggestion: Have KLAS mailing labels generate/contain IMpb compliant barcodes. Issue: The USPS has new barcode requirements for parcels. These requirements do apply to Free Matter parcel items, although the USPS is not necessarily going to enforce it re: Free Matter at this time. We have upgraded our postage meter software to create IMpb compliant labels for non-NLS mailings. While we could separately create and add these IMpb labels to the equipment we send out, it would be a lot of work. A better workflow would be to have the KLAS mailing labels generate compliant barcodes. The latest word from NLS is this: "Per the Government Mailers Webinar held last week for Government Agencies there will not be any penalties on Government Agencies neither will there be any refusal of mailings not bearing the IMB or IMpb. It was also discussed that each location IMB’s must be unique to each location as the zip code of location is also reflected in the IMpb. Obtaining IMB’s is encouraged for all mailers, but at this time is not mandatory for government agencies." That said, there are many benefits of using the IMpb compliant barcodes. We can better track our equipment and receipt by customers.

Just for reference, which barcodes are you referring to? Where are the barcodes, and what are they printed on?

We use Neopost and have updated our software. Here is a link to IMpb information on their website: www.gowithneopost.com/impb/ At the bottom of this page is a link to a USPS fact sheet on these new barcode requirements. Hope this is helpful for you.
