Web OPAC - Display HH/RQ while searching

We recently had a patron ask us if there was something in the OPAC to indicate that the patron had previously had a title when they look that title up. We responded to let them know that, if they put a request on a title they've had before, they'll get an alert when they go to check out. But, even as we responded, we realized that this is kind of a pain, requiring the book to be added to the cart and then checked out before learning that, oh, you've already had that book. Wouldn't it be much nicer if patrons could know if they'd already had the book they're looking at before going through the process of adding it to their cart and checking out? Of course, for those patrons who are comfortable with using the faceting options, it's possible to limit your search results to only Unread titles...but my impression has been that most patrons are not comfortable with using the faceting options. If there was a note on the search results indicating a title as a has had (or a current request/reserve), perhaps with the date checked out listed in the full title display, that would be so user friendly.
