2015 Session Ideas was created by tkalber
The list below is condensed from the feedback forms and the first planning session. If you think of other ideas respond to this post and I'll get them added to the list. Also we need to start looking at which ideas would fit best in each session type. We need to come up with 6-8 general session ideas, 6 seminar session, and 5 each of BoaF, Workshop, and Hands-on trainings.
Old standards that are well received and obviously should continue:
• KLAS New Features
• NLS Updates
• BoaF – KLAS Administratros, RA Issues
• Seminars – Admin Review, New Features, Reports
• Hands-on - Scavenger Hunt, RA Search Skills, any AT if available
Newer standards that are well received and possibly should continue:
• Ignite Talks
• Ask the Experts/ Q&A with KLAS staff
Topics that should be repeated:
• KLAS Mobile App
• Queries, statistics and reports
• AT and WebOPAC (only if AT available)
• Dup on Demand and stats related to DoD
New ideas mentioned:
• PIMMS
• Circulation tips – how to maximize your circulation maintenance; how to increase circulation
• Conference Planning session
• Circulating and counting multiple titles on one cartridge (got both should have been presented and least helpful); is it worth counting?
• Circulation coverage
• Staffing – comparing between different libraries and states
• KLAS 102 – what’s beyond KLAS 101
• Little used/known KLAS features
• KLAS functions used incorrectly
• Xess
• How to load BARD records and rerun the errors
• In-house vs outsourced server
• Creating jobs in batch manager
• More info on assistive technology
• Equipment Tracking and management
• Keeping staff motivated
• Retrieving overdue books and processing mismatched books
• RS Queue – maybe tips on how to keep patrons active, problem patrons
• How to customize reports – interlinkage between KLAS and NLS
• Locally produced books on BARD and KLAS role
• Ways to serve book clubs
• Out of RC business in May - should we discuss?
• Shelving options
• Series of trainings on a specific topic
• IRC/TBL partnerships
• Mini OPAC session on setting up parameters
• RFID
• Purging catalog; withdrawing copies
Suggestions for conference in general:
• Laugh for day - clone James Gleason (submitted by JG)
• Cover something for each department in library
• More to library than just RAs – maybe something for the machine department.
• More time set aside for small group discussions on targeted topics
• Consider some longer in-depth presentations on subjects of general interest
• Encourage all ignite talks to have handouts or PowerPoint
• Put library tour at a different time; should be part of schedule, not optional
• In hands-on – have the presenters talk a little more about it rather than just hand out a worksheet
Offers to Present for 2015:
• User perspectives on reports (Kim Tomlinson, WI)
• How to keep staff motivated in a changing system (no name)
• Partnering with Public Libraries (I think this is Pat Herndon, GA)
• BoaF on New Technology and how to help our patrons better (Michael Usrey, AZ)

I am willing to present such a session on klasusers.com, but would like input on what folks want / need to hear.
I could also see a potential session lead by and / or about the newly formed KDAC.

Possible session topics discussed during this week's site visit to Oklahoma City:
From Erin Byrne:
Other session ideas:
From Erin Byrne:
- OPAC programs. Possibly one for people who haven’t set up their OPAC yet, where we talk them through it and another for people who have theirs already set up, showing them how the can customize the OPAC. Or, one program covering both topics would suffice.
- Sheldon from the OK AIM Center is interested in doing a program.
Other session ideas:
- The Ins and Outs of Hosting the KLAS Users' Conference
- What not to do. (participants bring examples of a project / idea that did not work out and then explore what could have been done differently)
