Patron Centric Catridges General Session
Do you have patrons who don’t download who end up waiting a long time for DB cartridges to become available? Well, the wait is over! With the Patron-Centric Cartridge Program (PCC), your library can use technology to help alleviate the waiting time for your patrons by creating customized cartridges featuring multiple titles. Learn how Braille Institute Library has implemented this program—from signing up patrons for the PCC service and establishing guidelines for use, to the step-by-step process for creating a multi-title cartridge. The PCC program isn’t just great for whittling down the number of patrons on the reserve list, you can also use the service for other specialized multi-title cartridges as well. With PCC, you can create cartridges based on a patron’s preferences for authors/subjects/series and more, all while using a single cartridge for each patron. Join the discussion to learn more about this exciting new program!
Staff Training and Motivation Seminar
Staff training is one of the most overlooked parts of staff preparation. Often times the dreaded “T” word becomes just another thing we’ll get to eventually, but we never seem to get there. So how do we serve our patrons the best way we can if we don’t get to really know KLAS and all it has to offer? How does the new staff member get to know the basics or the seasoned-veteran continuously improve? You can fumble around in the dark, but are you really serving your patrons the best you can? When staff have a better understanding of KLAS they are motivated and more confident, which in turn leads to better service. This understanding is made possible by training. Come learn about how you can make training more a part of the work “routine”. Share your training tips to encourage others to make it part of their routine. Take away some helpful insight to motivate staff to become more seasoned KLAS users and serve your patrons better.
