Books to Queues before cataloged by staff

We’ve noticed that some of the new/updated books are getting added to patron’s service queues before we have time to get them cataloged with major exclusions that would keep them off some patron’s accounts.  Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone solved this?

Our initial ideas for possible solutions
  1. Map the 520 MARC field
  2. Change the order that nightly processes run so that orders and service queues are process before new/updated records are added.

We've done option 2 and it's helped a lot in cutting down unhappy patron calls :)
