Spare is now available on BARD... is it ready to Duplicate for your patrons?
To duplicate any title, you need three parts: 1) the file for your Scribe or Gutenberg, 2) the title record in your KLAS catalog, and 3) the eDoc connecting the two.
For 1, now that the file for Spare is available on BARD, it will have been synced to your duplication hardware and is ready to go!
For 2, an initial record for Spare was included in the February NEW marc files, so it should already be in your database. If you do not yet have a title record, you can contact Keystone customer support to load it for you, but so long as you have the basic record with the KLAS ID, you're all set! Don't worry about it not having much cataloging, the 856 BARD link, etc.
Finally, 3, the eDoc, will be generated overnight once both the file and the title record are in place, and Spare will start showing up in patron Service Queues.
If you'd like to go one step further and ensure that it gets to your patrons as soon as possible:
If you already had a placeholder record, check the Requests tab and go to each patron record. OR, if you tracked early requests in the patron comments instead, you can query for Comments - Note Text - Matches - Spare. Since it's such a simple title, if you use a standard comment heading or note type for requests, be sure to include a line for that as well!
Delete the patron's Request/Reserve from the requests tab (if present).
Use Quick Request to add the title to the top of their Service Queue. It will now be included on the patron's next cartridge.
