Do you need a list of book search or catalog query results that is better-formatted than an excel sheet, with specific pieces of information? For example, a list of recommendations for your newsletter, locally produced titles for your funding agency, or book club selections for your website? Here's a feature that can help.
You probably haven't paid it any mind (I know I didn't), but there's a Print button on the book search results screen and the catalog query results screen. This button doesn't kick out the results directly to your printer--instead, it formats them into a table and opens then in your web browser! This makes it easy to copy and paste the results, already neatly formatted, wherever you need them.
Even better, you can customize what fields are included in this print, instead of being stuck with "export visible fields" or "export all fields and the kitchen sink" (mildly paraphrased
). Here's how:
- In Control Maintenance, select Module k7-CT, then find BookSearchPrint
- Edit the Control File to have a comma-separated list of just the fields you need, such as "Title,Author,KlasID,Subject"
- Don't forget to Save!
You can then use the Print button on the Search Results screen from either Book Search or Query to easily create a table with the desired information about each book. The results will open in your browser, and can be saved as a webpage or copied into another program.
