This question was asked at one of the sessions but I did not hear the answer. If the media is set to strictly obey the max, k7-PS/MediaToObeyMax , Is there another setting or a work around that will still allow nightly to strictly obey the max but allow the user to directly assign an item beyond the max. In other words, is there a way which will allow and RA to override the max when necessary?
The only way I can think of is to change to the max on the patron's profile and then reset it once the items have been assigned. It works, but is cumbersome.
The MediatoObeyMax allows you to specify which media should not be allowed go over the patron's NSCutoff number listed on their profile. The effect of this is to stop Reserves and manual assignments by Reader Advisors from putting the patron over that number. (The regular nightly programs for Request, Author and Subject already obey the NSCutoff number).
The only way to override this is to adjust the profile and increase the NSCutoff for that medium, as you have described. There is no setting that only stops Reserves, while still allowing users to manually assign an item.
